In My Mailbox

In My Mailbox was created by the lovely Kristi at The Story Siren.

This week was actually a busier one for me in terms of books! I about a few, I recieved a few, and I was able to go to the library. :)

Bought: I know I'm really behind as far as getting my hands on this book. I had requested it from the library- as number 480 on the queue- and decided I was too impatient to wait for it! I'm only a few pages in, but I realized I've missed Katniss' story so much. :)

Put me in front of the classics display and Barnes and Noble and I'll buy just about anything. Hence the Virginia Woolf novel, haha.

For Review:
I'm SO EXCITED for this book. And the cover is so shiny! I'm ready to dive in!

From 1 ARC Tours:
How will I get any work done this week? So many good reads!

From the Library:
I've seen this cover around the blogosphere a lot, but I haven't seen any reviews yet (or more probably I just haven't been looking in the right places.) I'm lovin' that faeries are so popular in YA now.

I had seen that Nicole at Word for Teens (on her blog or her Twitter, I don't remember...) that she had loved Unwind. Then I saw this on the shelf and snatched it up!

Have a lovely weekend!

In My Mailbox and a Quick Personal Update

In My Mailbox is a meme created by the lovely Kristi at The Story Siren.

If you know me, you know I love packages. LOVE. So when I got not one but four (!) it's pretty safe to say that I'm beyond excited. Let's see what I got, shall we?

From We Love YA! Tours:

I'm a big fan of books set in futuristic worlds, but this one doesn't just include science. It has MAGIC. *glitter* Oh yesss. I'm pumped.

From a Lovellllly Blogger Buddy:

When I opened this I literally sat on my bed and just gaped at the fact that I was holding this gorgeous, gorgeous book in my hands. I owe much thanks to my friend. At the moment I'm about halfway through and am falling in love with Lend. And Tasey. ;)

From Contests:

I enjoyed Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver (review here!) Her writing is probably some of the most poetic I've found in YA Lit, so I'm very happy to have a book of hers to add to my shelf! Unfortunately, I haven't read Lament as of yet, but it's been added to my TBR pile.

I have heard a great many wonderful things about Maria V. Snyder and about Valek. Both have been incredibly positive, and I can't wait to dive in!

Personal Update:
I'm sure you've noticed my lack of reviews lately. Please know that it's not been for my lack of reading! I've kept a book in hand these couple of weeks for long car rides to college tours/senior portraits/beach trips. Most of today will be dedicated to catching up on reviews and my inbox and such. I'm desperately trying to get back on track, and I'm hoping that you, my lovely readers, will bear with me just a little longer.

Much Love,
Cate <3

P.S. Have you checked out Book Blogger Rebellion, headed up by the ever-funny Nicole at Word for Teens? No? Well, scurry on over! Because we book bloggers do more than read, you know!

In My Mailbox is a meme created by the very lovely Kristi at The Story Siren.

This week I actually got several books! After my unannounced little hiatus, I'm getting back into the swing of reading. I keep having to remind myself that I have a 100 Book Challenge for this year, and not to mention several others, and I don't want to be a complete failure. ;)

From Traveling ARC Tours:

For Review:

Won from a Contest at the Library:

I'm excited to dive into all of these!

For Review:

Manifest by Artist Arthur
I haven't heard much buzz about this one, but it sounds so intriguing! Plus the cover is gorgeous. :)

Contests:

I won both of these from the sweet Melina at Reading Vacation. I know that there's a new tv series that's been based off of these books, so they should be interesting reads!

Bought:

At Books-a-Million this week there was a buy 2, get one free sale on the classics, so I snatched them up! I've read both A Little Princess and Swiss Family Robinson before, and loved them. Although I have yet to delve into King Arthur, I've become all the more intrigued by the British television show, Merlin.

***

Finally, school is DONE!! More time to read, more time to blog- it's going to be a fantastic summer, I can just feel it! It also gives me time to work on my challenges, which I really doubt I've made any progress on as of yet this year. I'll be doing a midway challenge post within the next week or so, as well as catch up on all of the reviews that I haven't written yet: Beautiful Creatures and The Great Gatsby.

Right now, I'm in the middle of Shiver. OH. MY. It's just soooooooo incredibly well-written. LoveLoveLove.

I'll be seeing much, much more of you soon, my friends. But now I am off to bake some scones and custards for the holiday weekend. My family is eating well tonight. ;P

P.S. I can't wait to hear about everyone's BEA adventures! (And live vicariously through you, haha)

In My Mailbox was created by the lovely Kristi of The Story Siren.

This week I actually got a few books from Around the World Tours. Arc tours are an addiction, I tell you. And I'm not the only one- there should be a club with t-shirts!

Lost for Words by Alice Kuipers

I hadn't heard anything about this book until I saw it on the tour list. I have to admit, I decided to go for it because of the cover; it's simple and intriguing. Have any of you read this one?

I've been soooo excited for this one!! Eek! 'nuff said, eh?

In My Mailbox is hosted by the lovely Kristi of The Story Siren.

From Traveling Arc Tours:

Growing up in the enchanted Thèâtre Illuminata, Beatrice Shakespeare Smith learned everything about every play ever written. She knew the Players and their parts, but she didn’t know that she, too, had magic. Now, she is the Mistress of Revels, the Teller of Tales, and determined to follow her stars. She is ready for the outside world
.

Won from contest at Pirate Penguin's Reads:
A collection of dark faerie tales inspired by folklore, myth and legend told in the haunting lyrical style of dark poet E.J. Stevens.

From the Library:
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human ... until the cold makes him shift back again.

I'm so excited to get into all of these!! Have any of you read Shiver? Thoughts?

For Review:
Fifteen-year-old Shifty knows all about moving around and next to nothing about where he came from. When he's assigned to a new foster home and family, he tries hard to keep cool and stay out of trouble. But it seems like the more he tries to do the right thing, the more trouble he finds. As Shifty navigates a series of messy summer adventures, he struggles to find a balance between the street-wise spirit that has helped him survive and his longing for a place to call home. -Goodreads

"Smart writing and an engaging narrative keep the story fresh, while an interesting plot will keep readers turning the pages." -Kirkus Reviews. I haven't heard much about Lynn E. Hazen, but I have high hopes!! Have any of you read this one?

For Fun:
Also, I know this isn't book-related, but my mom bought me the most adorable pillow from this shop called The Lavendar Tree on Etsy. The owner sells the most sweet pillows, scarves, and odds and ends she's made from recycled wool. She also has a blog, here. Go check her out!

Hi everyone! Spring is finally here! I actually got two books in my mailbox this week! IMM was created by Kristi from The Story Siren.

The first is Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcis and Maragret Stohl, which I won at a contest hosted my the lovely Lucy at Delightful Reviews. I had no idea how thick this book was until I received it; I think this may have to be a summer read, as 550+ pages is quite a lot to handle during the schoolyear. ;)

And the second is Read, Remember, Recommend for Teens: A Reading Journal for Young Adult Book Lovers by Rachelle Rogers Knight. This is the book that I'm featured in, along with dozens of other YA bloggers. I actually just started flipping through this one last night, and found that there was more than two pages of fairy tale retelling recommendations. I was in heaven.

What have you heard about these two reads and what's in your mailbox this week?

In My Mailbox is hosted by the lovely Kristi at The Story Siren.

This week I received Polar Bear, Alpha by Jeremy Koontz. It's a middle-grade digital book enhanced with music, digital photography, and web links. I don't know a whole lot about the actual context of the book, but I find the idea of an interactive story fascinating. To find out more information, click here.

From the Library:

What did you get in your mailboxes?

P.S. I'd also like to remind you that right now I'm hosting TWO contests! The first is my 100 Followers Contest that ends February 7th, and the second is a three-book giveaway that's part of an interview I did at Mrs. Magoo's Reads, which ends February 9th. Go check it out!

Thanks to Kristi from The Story Siren for coming up with this great idea to share what's in our mailboxes!

First, I received Ice, by Sarah Beth Durst. I won this in a contest, and I'm very excited to read another retelling of East of the Sun, West of the Moon!

Okay, so this may not be book-related, but I was very excited when the first two seasons of Gilmore Girls (only the best show of all time) came in the mail this week. I have a feeling a marathon is coming up soon...Anyone else a fan?

What did you get this week? Leave your link in the comments and I'll be sure to check it out! <3 Cate

I have an IMM post for you this week! Special thanks to Kristi over at The Story Siren for creating this fun meme.

Received:

I am participating in a blogger event in November, and have chosen to read Syren, by Angie Sage. I actually have not read the other four books in the series- does anyone know if I need to read the previous installments to understand this book? More information to come later!

From the Library:

I actually decided to take up Sandy (from Pirate Penguin's Reads) on her recommendation of The Song Reader by Lisa Tucker. Thanks, Sandy! It truly does look interesting; has anyone else read this before?

Have a relaxing rest of your weekend!

This is my first In My Mailbox! This informative meme was created by The Story Siren! :)

Purchased:

Song of the Sparrow, by Lisa Ann Sandell. After first seeing this title, I really just couldn't help myself. Come on, sparrows!

The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak. This is one of my favorite books, and I'm very glad to finally have my own copy. Now, if only Markus Zusak would come into town!

Enna Burning, by Shannon Hale. I lost my other copy of Enna, and I just needed to replace it before Forest Born came out.

From the Library:

If I Stay, by Gayle Forman and Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow, by Jessica Day George. Can't wait to read another version of East of the Sun, West of the Moon. If I Stay looks terrific too!
