Flashback Friday (1)

Friday, September 4, 2009 |

Hi everyone- I hope you're all enjoying the last bit of summer! I decided to create a little weekly post called Flashback Friday, which essentially features a book that I used to love when I was in elementary school. I just want to share a few little anecdotes about my reading habits as a kid (or a younger one, at least!)

My first book is Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder. As a second and third grader, I was obsessed with these books. It's quite possible that I read the entire series several times over. There was just something about slipping back in time to the prairies, with the wagons and cotton dresses, that made me always want to come back. I think that I even dressed up as Laura Ingalls one Halloween, bonnet and all. There were no boundaries. ;)

What were some of your favorite books as a younger kid?

This is such a cute feature!! Hmm books that I loved as a child... Oh, I know! Adaline Falling Star! That was one of my all time favorites. Maybe this should become a weekly Meme you host? I know I would participate!

This was one of my favorites as a kid too! I also read the Boxcar Children about a million times. Along with the Girl Talk series cause Randy was the coolest girl ever. I wanted to be just like her - mohawk and all lol.

Actually in the book club I'm in, we're going to be reading Little House on the Prairie next. Then taking a little field trip to Laura Ingalls Wilder's house after we're done.

Well i live in the Netherlands, so my favourite book as a child was ofcourse a dutch book called 'ik wil naar de maan kijken', translation: I want to look at the moon.

I always wanted my mom to read this story to me...:)

I think my favorite books as a child were The Babysitters' Club books (I must have read hundreds of those). The only Laura Ingalls Wilder book I actually liked was The Long Winter.

Adorable feature! I loved these books as a kid. Got the whole set after having my adenoids taken out in fourth grade; spent my recovery time, safely with Laura.
